Statement

The Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia considers it very promising that the Ukrainian law enforcement managed to find and capture the alleged perpetrators of the bombing against our headquarters in Uzhgorod, which took place on February 27, 2018. Considering the social significance of this act of crime, we request the pre-trial detention of the captured individuals. We believe that release of the suspects against bail would not help to resolve the case and we request that the judiciary organs act in accordance with the law and taking the social significance of the case into account.
The Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathia welcomes the suggestion of the OSCE delegation in Ukraine, which is a positive response to the multiple requests of our organization and states that increased presence should be provided in Transcarpathia as a necessary and justified reaction to the recent events.
